Revitalizing Greektown through respecting its roots

The Exchange name represents its location and pays respect to the culture and history of Greektown as an area where Greek and German immigrants came to find opportunity and create family businesses. Some of the earliest businesses in the area were set up as mercantile exchanges. Exchange is slated to be the first large-scale residential development within the storied neighborhood in the last 60 years.

LIFTbuild Senior Director Marisa Varga and Melanie Markowicz, Executive Director of the Greektown Neighborhood Partnership, gave Fox 2 Detroit’s Ingrid Kelley a preview of Exchange.

Featuring 153 rental apartments and 12 condos for purchase within the 16-story high-rise project, 20 % of the apartments will be maintained at below-market rental rates for those with incomes under the median income for the area. 24/7 valet service will be provided to building residents, making use of abundant surface parking already available within the Greektown neighborhood. Exchange is scheduled to begin construction in late 2020 with project completion in early 2022.
