Lafayette West Residential Development

Detroit, Michigan

Lafayette West is a 5.2-acre development planned for the historic Lafayette Park Neighborhood designed by Mies van der Rohe that will bring 374 new residential units and retail to the area. Units will be both for-rent and for-sale and will include lofts, townhouses, flats and high-rise apartments. High-rise construction will utilize the LIFTbuild process to assemble each of the tower’s 10 stories at-grade prior to lifting each floor into its final position.

The LIFTbuild tower on site will provide the development 140 units, including 24 for-purchase condos and 120 rentable units. The tower will also include amenities and retail. Programming and construction of the entire site will also include a park-like setting and pre-cast parking structure.

Lafayette West offers a prime opportunity to explore and implement new construction methodologies to build a community that is in line with the growth in Detroit today. In planning for the use of advanced modularization and prefabrication of building components, along with leading-edge process improvements in high-rise construction, the team will be able to bring a much needed, and highly anticipated, new residential development to the history-rich Lafayette Park neighborhood.
